The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite, and it is very slowly drifting away from us at about 3.8 cm every year! Its gravity is what controls our ocean tides â without the Moon, Earth's oceans would barely rise and fall. Twelve lucky astronauts have walked on the Moon, leaving footprints that will remain there for millions of years since there is no wind or rain to erase them!
